Appraisal Guidance

Overview
We offer a straightforward appraisal and pre‑clearance service for books, art, vinyl, watches, and schematics, diagrams and ephemera of industrial and scientific interest. Our aim is to provide clear guidance on whether an item is suitable for sale, how it might be described, and what level of interest it may attract. This service is intended to help owners make informed decisions before selling or consigning items.

What We Provide
Appraisals are based on photographs, descriptions, and any supporting information you can supply. We assess condition, edition or variant, and general market suitability. Where appropriate, we can advise on likely demand, typical pricing ranges, and any issues that may affect saleability. All assessments are made carefully and conservatively.

Limitations
Appraisals are informal and do not constitute a valuation for insurance, probate, or legal purposes. They are intended only as practical guidance for owners considering sale. Market conditions can change, and any indication of interest or pricing is based on the information available at the time. We cannot guarantee future sale prices or outcomes.

Pre‑Clearance
Pre‑clearance is available for owners who wish to check whether an item is suitable for listing with us. This includes confirming edition details, identifying faults that may need to be disclosed, and advising on whether the item fits within our specialist areas. Pre‑clearance does not oblige either party to proceed with a sale.

How to Request an Appraisal
If you would like an appraisal or pre‑clearance, please email clear photographs and a short description of the item to [email protected]. For books, please include images of the binding, title page, and any notable faults. For art, please include the full work, frame, signature, and reverse. For vinyl, please include the labels, matrix numbers, and sleeve. The more information you can provide, the more accurate the assessment will be.

Turnaround Time
We aim to respond to appraisal enquiries within three working days. Complex items or large groups may take longer. If additional information is required, we will let you know.

Use of AI
Some written guidance may be prepared or assisted by AI tools, and any image sent may be shown to AI tools to clarify details. All assessments are reviewed manually before being provided. Photographs are not altered or enhanced. Final responsibility for all appraisal comments rests with EJH Collectables.
