Although best known as the author of The Exorcist, Blatty regarded Demons Five, Exorcists Nothing as one of his personal favourites. Blending satire, theology, philosophy and humour, the novel explores faith, doubt and the battle between good and evil through a distinctive narrative that differs markedly from his better-known horror fiction.

Originally published in 1996, this Centipede Press edition is not the first appearance of the work but is notable as the first publication of Blatty’s preferred revised text, incorporating additions and revisions made specifically for this edition. As such, it represents the first appearance of the author’s final version of the novel and is properly regarded as the first Centipede Press edition, or first edition thus.
