U2, “Live ‘Under A Blood Red Sky’” — Mini LP Edition (IMA 3), European Pressing

This European Mini LP edition of Under A Blood Red Sky presents one of U2’s most recognisable early live documents in a compact, visually striking format. Issued under catalog number IMA 3, the release distils the atmosphere of the band’s formative concert era into a concise presentation that has remained popular with collectors of 1980s rock and alternative live material. The Mini LP format lends the record a distinctive shelf presence, retaining the core artwork and design language of the original album while offering a smaller, tightly produced jacket that suits curated collections and display‑focused setups.

The recording captures U2 during a period of rapid artistic development, with performances that emphasise the raw, urgent energy of their early catalogue. Although the tracklist varies slightly across different regional issues, the Mini LP format typically includes key live staples from the War tour, reflecting the band’s transition from post‑punk roots toward the broader, stadium‑oriented sound that would define their later work. The production style of this edition aligns with the European broadcast‑derived releases of the period, offering a clear, engaging listen that complements the visual appeal of the pressing.

The jacket design features the familiar red‑toned concert imagery associated with the album, reproduced here with strong colour fidelity and crisp detail. The compact format enhances the graphic impact, making the release well suited to collectors who appreciate visually coherent live‑album variants. The heavyweight vinyl pressing contributes to the overall quality, with clean labels and a presentation that reflects careful handling and storage.

This Mini LP edition remains a desirable entry point for collectors seeking early U2 live material in a format that balances rarity, presentation, and historical interest. Its combination of strong visual appeal and well‑preserved condition makes it a compelling addition to a curated contemporary music inventory.
